Each Monday, we publish a round-up of the most compelling flash sales offers for the coming week. Given the diversity of our audience across all ages, preferences, and budgets, know that some of these bottles might not quite float your boat, or might not be the right price. But all of our choices represent genuine value and hard-to-match opportunities in their own categories.
This week brings us a number of iconic wines from around the world, most notably the Ornellaia Bolgheri Superiore available on Monday from Wine Access. Yet it’s some of the bargain wines that have caught our eye, like a charming little Mencía from Wine Express on Monday and a Chianti Rufina from Wine Access on Wednesday. In the middle might be the star of the entire week, Jean-Marc Pillot’s Premier Cru Les Gouresses from the chronically-overlooked commune of Montagny, available on Monday from SommSelect.
Keep an eye out each week for our top picks.
Monday, May 9

2016 Encanto Seleccion Mencía, $14.95
Who’s it for: This charming and expressive red from the Bierzo region of Spain is perhaps a bit unusual, as winemaker Victor Robla sources Mencía grapes from several vineyards in the area and then ages the wine in a mix of American and French oak for 22 months, producing a more full-bodied and black-fruited expression than many on the market.
Where to get it: Wine Express, available May 9, 2022 at 9 a.m. ET until sold out
Note: This link will stay live until the offer is sold out.

2020 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon, $89.95
Who’s it for: This iconic Napa Valley wine probably needs no introduction, but if you’re looking for a shot at the recently-released 2020 vintage at a fair price, well, here you go!
Where to get it: Wine Express, available May 9, 2022 at 9 a.m. ET until sold out

2019 Jean-Marc Pillot Montagny Premier Cru Les Gouresses, $58
Who’s it for: Those willing to look a little deeper. Montagny, at the southern end of Burgundy’s Côte Chalonnaise, isn’t necessarily the most prized source for Chardonnay in the region, but in the hands of talented winemakers and pulled from some of the best vineyards, wines like this can absolutely go toe-to-toe with wines two or three times as pricy from the more well-known appellations.

Who’s it for: Those who like to get a little wild. Hailing from Cornell’s estate vineyard in the middle of the Mayacamas Range that separates Napa Valley from Sonoma, this wine highlights the unique qualities of this rugged landscape, especially in the hands of the talented winemaking duo of Francoise Peschon and Elizabeth Tangney.

2018 Fattoria di Basciano Chianti Rufina, $13.99
Who’s it for: Perhaps no wine region delivers quality red wine at an everyday price quite like Chianti. Made from Sangiovese in the beautiful Tuscan countryside, wines like this bottle from Fattoria di Basciano offer a mix of bright, tart red fruits, lots of notes of dusty earth and hints of stewed tomato and braised meats.

Hailing from the historic commune of Serralunga d’Alba in Piedmont, this 100% Nebbiolo wine is bursting with raspberry, red cherry, and cranberry along with tobacco, cedar, and rose petals. Unlike some examples, it’s also very much ready to drink right now, even if it certainly could be cellared for additional years.
