Tech start-up attracts the best in the international wine business
Napa, CA — Wednesday, February 3, 2021 — Pix, the wine-discovery platform set to launch in Spring 2021, has appointed three industry stars to its team.
Meg Maker, Leslie Yake, and Felicity Carter have all joined Pix as it builds toward a Spring 2021 public release. Pix is being developed as the world’s most comprehensive wine discovery platform, available on web and app. Whether users search or scan, Pix provides all the information they need to find the right wine and make a purchase decision. This includes contextual information, ratings and reviews from a range of sources, and real-time access to inventory and shipping information.
“The wine industry has long needed a new approach to buying and selling wine online. Our vision is to connect consumers and sellers seamlessly, without inserting ourselves in the transaction,” said Paul Mabray, CEO of Pix. “To succeed where so many have failed, we’ve recruited wine tech experts with a shared vision to make this dream a reality. We are excited to be able to attract talent of the caliber of Meg, Leslie, and Felicity.”
Award-winning writer Meg Maker is best known to the wine trade for her journalism and photography, but behind the scenes she has also built a reputation for her expertise in digital strategy, analytics, and e-commerce. She joins Pix as a Content Project Manager.
Leslie Yake, who holds an MBA from the University of Colorado at Denver, has more than 20 years of experience in software product management, from overseeing the development of search engines and apps to subscription-based e-commerce systems. She joins Pix as Vice President of Product.
Journalist and editor Felicity Carter joins Pix as Executive Editor, overseeing consumer and trade content development. Most recently she was Editor-in-Chief of Meininger’s Wine Business International, the international wine trade publication read in more than 30 countries.
The three new team members join an all-star team that includes CEO Paul Mabray, who has built a reputation as a digital innovator in the wine industry; the award-winning editor and Chief Content Officer Erica Duecy, formerly of VinePair and SevenFifty Daily, and Director of Sales Jay Spaleta, formerly of Wine Enthusiast.
“We are building a foundation for changing forever how wine gets bought and sold online,” said Paul Mabray. “That can only be done with a high-level team, and I am confident that we have attracted some of the brightest talent in the business. I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together.”
